The starter recorder is designed to record electrical parameters of the battery during engine start. The following parameters are recorded: starter battery current, voltage on the starter batteries separately on each (two measurement channels).
Basic principles of operation
- Parameters are recorded in the memory of the recorder in real time, the signal to start recording is the increase of the starter battery current above the threshold value, caused by turning on the engine starter.
- The recorded data are stored in the form of a profile and can be read with the help of a special software program-configurator. Later, by reading the profile and analyzing the recorded data, it is possible to judge the state of the starting battery.
- Data is recorded 1000 times per second, the time of recording one profile is 65 seconds. Profiles are recorded sequentially with the increase of their serial number. Profiles are numbered from 0 to 9. Profiles are recorded in a circle, i.e. after the ninth profile the zero profile will be recorded and so on. However, no more than 9 profiles can be stored in the memory, because after the end of recording of the next profile the recorder prepares for recording of the next profile by erasing the corresponding array from the memory. Thus, after the ninth profile is recorded, the zero profile will be erased and the recorder will be ready to instantly start recording a new profile with the number 0.
- In the profile the beginning of recording is fixed: year, month, number, hour, minute and second. The time is taken from the internal clock, the clock is configured using the configurator program. The clock has a backup power supply, short interruptions of external power supply do not lead to failure of time countdown.
