The replaceable communication module (metkom) is designed for single-phase electricity meters AIST A100.
The module is used for remote meter readings. It is installed in a special slot in the meter housing and then sealed.
The module transmits data from the meter via a wireless LoRaWAN network, which operates in the 863–870 MHz frequency range. Deploying the network requires a base station that polls a large number of meters and transmits the data to the upper-level system.
The LoRaWAN infrastructure is suitable for servicing large enterprises. It is advisable to use the LoRaWAN module in areas where there are no cell towers or where no plans are underway to build them.
The advantage of this communication channel is the absence of a subscription fee.
